Sittin' Around on a Saturday...

Well, today's been a mostly lazy day. The hubby and I got up around 10:00 this morning and I made his coffee (I can't stand the stuff, myself) and then we decided to stay in bed and watch a movie (There Will Be Blood). After that was done, we got onto the boy to mow the yard and then we'd log him onto the computers. Somehow we motivated our daughter to start cleaning the kitchen (could have had something to do with the fact that we bribed her with the promise of waffles). While hubby made waffles I folded clothes and put them away. I ate and then headed upstairs.

I got in 31 minutes of Wii Fit, including ten minutes worth of Super Hula Hoop. WOW!! That takes it out of you!! This afternoon I decided it was high time I take part in another therapeutic activity. I grabbed a book, and some crayons and colored!! It feels so good sometimes to just get back to some of the simpler things. Last night when I bought the books and crayons the clerk asked me if they were for my daughter. I smiled and replied, "Nope, they're for me! Its been too long since I just colored in a coloring book." She smiled and said, "you know, it IS fun. Maybe I should follow your lead and do the same tonight." That brightened my day (and face) more than I realized it would.

Here's a few pictures of my family in their "natural habitat"...this is usually what they're doing while I'm working on my Wii Fit or downstairs watching TV.

New plan for the weekend

I have recently found the battery charger for my camera and now I'm all charged up! So this weekend I plan on taking a fair share of pictures and then finding a way to put them on here. Kinda unclear on that, since I see no add pix button on here right now. I'm hoping its just my computer needing some sort of update. I'll check upstairs later on and see if it'll work on those. I've been inspired by Dawn to take more pictures.

Shopping beautiful?

Alright, its sharing time. I am a shopaholic! I love to shop and delight in spending my hubby's hard-earned money. He continually lectures me on curbing these outbreaks. A while back he and I had it out and I really came to understand a little more about myself.

When I was thin and in shape (see photo to the left) I didn't do a lot of shopping/buying. I would occasionally try on clothes and then hang them back up, rarely buying things. Make-up was always kept to a minimum and I had maybe 2 bottles of perfume that kept me content. Now? Well, I have more shoes than I ever thought I'd own, I have a TON of makeup (five full acrylic organizers worth and two of the older large Mary Kay big compaqs), hair products galor, and a shelf full of perfume (I think close to 10 varieties). But one thing that remains close to the same is my amount of clothing. I have more than enough, but usually stick to about 2 wks worth of my clothes.

I believe now that I think I can buy myself beautiful. Before I could put on anything in my closet and feel gorgeous. Nowadays however, I find myself trying on outfit after outfit looking for something that doesn't inspire my fav saying, "Things that make you say MOO!" I shop and feel better about myself, physically. I spend close to an hour getting my hair and makeup just right. I pick through my perfumes until I find one that reflects my current mood. I know that none of my clothing is going to miraculously make me appear 20 lbs thinner (no matter how much I suck it in, or what industrial strength tools I utilize).

Perhaps by doing my make-up to look like the pictures in the magazines I am trying to distract from the disturbing number of chins I've developed. Or if my feet look cute in my shiny patent leather hot pink stilettos then you won't notice my less than spectacular thighs. Or if I smell like Kate Winslet supposedly smells (What, don't think she wears the fragrances she promotes?) then a cute boy will find me utterly irresistible and the pinnacle of sexiness. All that, I'm not totally 100% on, but I know that I spend far more these days than when I was a size 10 and considered skinny.

For this reason, as I'm sure you can guess, the hubby can't wait for me to get back into shape. Who knows, guess time will tell. But can I tell you something funny? Got ya here, why not! Whenever hubby and I have sex, I'm SKINNY and SUPER sexy!! I actually FEEL like I've lost the 100 pounds. I close my eyes and enjoy it. I don't feel my personal bakery flying everywhere, I don't notice those less than appealing things about myself. I feel GREAT! One day I'll be able to keep my eyes open the whole time and see with my eyes what I see with my mind.

Early mornings

Both yesterday and this morning I've gotten up rather early. Granted, last night I fell asleep close to 9:00pm, so when I awoke at around 3:00am it didn't seem that bad. I laid in bed for another two hours or so and tried to watch movies on the laptop with headphones and fall back to sleep, to no avail. Around 5:00 or so I decided to just head upstairs and get in some early Wii Fit, before anyone else woke up and needed my attention.

So I stepped onto the balance board and started up a movie. Movie sucks. Pause Wii Fit, change to regular tv (catch up on my news and current events). What the....!?!?!?! So Verizon has apparently decided to pull the open air plug WAY earlier than February 2009. Yes folks, I'm a rabbit ears gal. We nixed cable a few months ago as it was an expense that was just not needed in our home. Looks like I'm headed to Wal-mart this morning to get a converter box. I STILL say the cable companies are behind this and backing some MAJOR lobbyists to make this crap happen. Anyway, back to what I was saying...I searched quicklyfor another movie and found a cop of Dirty Dancing upstairs, so I popped that in. This'll work, plenty of music and a decent watch, too.

I put in my 30 minutes of free step aerobics and decided to come on downstairs. Hubby had gotten up, only to let the dogs out to go for their morning pee (then slinked back to bed). So I decided to just grab my water, brush my teeth and log online to check things out in cyberworld.

I'm thinking of joining a friend for a week of free gym time, should be fun to have someone to work out with. Oh, and on another note...no more hoofin' it for me!! The car is fixed and for under a grand!! yeah!! So I'm sure he'll take it into work today and I'll get the truck as my transportation liason, but sure beats walking ANYWHERE in Texas heat! Laters friends!

Hoofin' it!?!?

So my car is currently in the shop because apparently its leaking coolant pretty badly and this is a vital problem (or so I've been informed). Just refilling it won't cut it. This means we're down to ONE vehicle, the truck! And of course, hubby can't be relied upon to pull up his boot straps and walk the 20 miles to work. (C'mon, why not?! Its GREAT exercise and you've got that big cubicle so no one is TOO close to you to smell your funk once you've sweat off all that excess poundage on the trek there!) Asking too much? Guess so.

Hubby's answer to this dilemma is that he get the truck and I walk everywhere. Since I don't need to go anywhere but the kids' school (which is about 1/2 a mile away and close enough for THEM to walk to and from). I have "plenty of things to keep me busy" at the house! yeah...insert various expletives. We started out the morning by waking the kids and heading out of the house to walk them to school. (According to my son it is SOOO not cool to have your MOTHER walk you to school when you're in the 8th grade, so he took off 5 minutes ahead of us! HA!) Of course, my husband had to turn to me about half-way there and say "WOW! Aren't you happy you did your make-up so you could sweat it all off on the walk there?" Smart ass...NOT helping!!

We both arrive back home and he decides to work from home today. And naturally, on his way upstairs to the office he calls to me "Hey honey!! Think you could start some laundry?" GREAT!! This is my FAVORITE thing about him working from home. *Expletive! Expletive! Expletive!* So my day will consist of more laundry requests and probably a few of these: "Sweetheart, how about a nooner?" or "Think you could do some more cleaning around here?" Oh yeah, that's right! I was looking for a growing honey do list today. How could I ever get through my day without your constant reminders of what's left to do around the house.

I'm thinking of sneaking the truck out to take some movies back in a bit and running some of MY errands. Ah well, as a friend stated, at least I guess the good thing is I've gotten a little bit of my exercise in early this morning. And good news is this morning on my Wii Fit Body Test, I was down 1.5 lbs! YIPPEE!!!!

Wii-a Mia!

Last night I did my hour of Wii Fit Step Aerobics (with weights this time), but I didn't follow my lil' Mii's rhythm. I put on a CD from the Mamma Mia Movie and stepped to the rhythm! A lot of those songs are almost double-time to the fastest setting. The best songs were Honey, Honey, Mamma Mia, Money Money Money, Lay All Your Love on Me, Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man), and Voulez-Vous. My hubby seemed to enjoy the song Mamma Mia the most (its a quick one) and kept repeating it several times. I think I did a great job though!!

I'm keeping with my S*it-Fast this week and eating healthy at dinner. So I am looking forward to some GREAT Body Tests this week. Be well friends and catch ya later!

Mmmmm...cow pie!

There's an old episode of Married...With Children that ALWAYS cracks me up! In this episode, Kelly is asked to come in and read for a diet shake commercial. She is to be the "after girl". All she has to do is drink a sip of the diet shake, and say mmmm and then add on the flavor. Here's a little snippet of the video:

This was the FUNNIEST thing to me. SO many times I've tried various diet shakes and always felt they didn't taste quite right. I've tried strawberry, chocolate, and a few that have made me wonder just what flavor concoction they were TRYING to come up with.
A "tasty" treat I've been trying to find is plain ol' vanilla, NOT french vanilla. Well, apparently Slim Fast has done a good job of answering my call. They ARE in their "low carb" or "high protein" variesties, but I'll take what I can get. So now I'm on the S*it Fast train! (I call it this b/c SOMETHING in Slim Fast I swear has a natural laxative/diruetic. Sorry if that was TMI.)
I went up by 0.2 lbs this morning in my weight on Wii Fit, but considering what all we ate yesterday I don't think that's all that bad at all!!! I had Olive Garden (LOVE my breadsticks and Alfredo sauce) and more than one serving of chicken enchiladas (recipe to come) last night. I DID do my S*it-Fast shake yesterday morning, though.
So happy dieting to those of us out there that are fighting this battle!

Migraines and Splenda

Today I went to the store and got some Citrus Crystal Light drinks (Focus). And I drank one while doing my hour of step aerobics, but then about 20 minutes later I noticed I was developing a REALLY bad headache QUICKLY! IT just seemed to get worse and worse at a very high speed. Before long I had blurring vision and nausea. Yep, its a migraine now. I looked at the bottle and discovered that it is sweetended with Splenda. I don't know why I didn't both to check the label at the store, I'm allergic to Splenda. And my reaction is migraine headaches. So I went downstairs to grab some meds and take them with plain ol' water from the fridge.

So here I sit with my head pounding, clothes damp from sweat after an hour straight on the Wii Fit Free Step Aerobics, tip-tapping away at my computer. I have remained committed to my goal of STAYING active and doing a minimum of 30-45 minutes on Wii Fit daily. When I gained weight recently, it was only a mild gain. I don't sweat those, as I know muscle weighs more than fat and also burns fat more efficiently. All in good time, right?

I went to a Mary Kay class with a friend last night and had a good time meeting people. I was encouraged to sign on as a consultant, but let them know that selling it wasn't for me, but I'd be happy to support my consultant as a cherished customer. I think I met some neat ladies that I can add to my "good girlfriends" list, though. I got a call from a couple of them this evening and they couldn't have been nicer.

Ahhhh..there's that euphoria I was waiting for. Headache on its way out!! Yeah!!! So I'm off for now everyone. I'm planning on trying a new recipe tomorrow, so I'll probably post pictures on here and a recipe. Thanks friends and be well!

What do I listen to?

Well, this morning I got to thinking about what I listen to while I work out. If I'm on the Wii then I usually turn on Free Step for 30 minutes and watch some TV, if I'm out walking in the neighborhood then I listen to my iPod. So I turned it on and put it on shuffle. These are the first seven songs that came up:

  • Lay All Your Love On Me (from Mamma Mia! Movie Soundtrack)
  • Too Little Too Late (JoJo)
  • Midnight In Montgomery (Alan Jackson)
  • Comfortable (John Mayer)
  • Power of Love (Huey Lewis & The News)
  • I Like The Way (Kaskade)
  • Uninvited (Alania Morissette)

Yeah, its eclectic at best. But now maybe you know a little more about me than you did before. My music tastes vary QUITE widely. I listen to everything from Classical to Hip-Hop/Rap.

What do YOU listen to?

I've been slipping in my work-out commitments and not doing them for any more than the minimum 30 minutes, so I'm off to the gameroom upstairs to rectify that situation and put in an hour. Afterwards I'll hop in the shower, probably go take some movies back to Blockbuster, grab a few groceries, and take my son to get his schedule for school this year. So just another normal Mommy day around here.

Laters friends!

Been a little lazy lately

This weekend was not the best for me, but luckily it wasn't as bad as it could have been either. This morning's Wii Fit Body Test said I was up a little on my weight. I know its due to some unconscious snacking throughout the weekend.

I DID make dinner last night (Thai Chicken with Sugar Snap Peas). I'm thinking of sharing the recipe here. I'd found the recipe on Kraft Foods' website and decided that it would work its way into our meal plan shortly thereafter.
Well friends, I need to head out and get the kids registered for this next school year so I can pick up their schedules later this week. We also have to go through their current pants and see if any of them still fit or how many we need to replace. Busy Busy Busy

Dorsey needs...

Ok, so I got this idea from a friend's blog (Dawn). I went to google, and typed in "Dorsey needs" and waited for the internet magic to begin... I had to use the first three pages instead of two, since there were A LOT of repeats. Here's my top five:
*******************************************

"Dorsey needs camp time to make an impact"

I'm not sure what to make of this one. I guess I need to get back in touch with nature, and what better way than camping?!? Right?

**************************************************

"Dorsey needs to know historical figures"

I'm thinking this has NOTHING to do with school (or rather hoping, as history was NOT my best subject). This one actually speaks to me. I believe this is directly linked to my weight loss, I need to remember what I've done in the past, and learn from it. As they always say...if you don't learn from history, you'll be doomed to repeat it.

***************************************************

"Dorsey needs to be a beast as a rookie"

Alright troops!! This one means that I need to start out my day like an eager rookie!! I should no longer loaf around until after "The View" or casually roll out of bed. I need to start each day with a purpose and attack it!!

********************************************

"Dorsey needs to stay on the floor"

I didn't think I'd had my head in the clouds lately, but perhaps I have after all; or so the powers that Google be seem to think so. HA! I plan on being more involved in my kids' school this year and hopefully that will help to keep me grounded.

******************************************

"What Dorsey needs is patience"

Yeah, I need patience, but don't we all from time to time. I'm taking more time for me these days (with my workouts). This time is crucial to my getting more healthy and being an all-around better me. I like who I am as a person now, I'm just not thrilled with my physical impression I leave with folks.

*************************************************

Thanks for the fun, Dawn! I had fun with this lil' exercise in self-examination.

Having trouble drinking water?

I know MANY people who have problems drinking enough water throughout the day. Usually they want to drink diet sodas, or friut juices, or other more "tasty" beverages. I found a way to make it easier to get the recommended amount of water down daily. *grin*

I use extracts to flavor my water! I usually put a couple teasponns into about 24 oz of water and add a sweet & low packet to sweeten it up a little. This helps me SO much!! I use several different flavors and usually drink anywhere from 100-120 oz a day. Below are some of the flavors I usually add to my water.

Today my chosen addition is Raspberry. I get my extracts from any of the local grovery stores near the spices and such.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell you...I LOST over 2 lbs this morning!! Yeah!!! I plan on repeating my hour of step aerobics later on this afternoon!

That was a GREAT cold shower!!!

Ok, don't panic...this isn't anything racy. I just finished doing an hour of Free Step Aerobics on Wii Fit. I started with the first 30 min. free step. After I finished that one (and watched part of the Olympics during) I did one round of Advanced Step Aerobics for 5 minutes. From there I moved onto Advanced Boxing for 10 minutes. I did really well there and so I went back to Free Step Aerobics for another 30 minutes. After I finished all this, I turned the Wii-mote over to my daughter and went downstairs to take a COLD (and SOOO refreshing) shower.

Hubby was already in bed, but I couldn't go to bed without getting all this down in blog. So here I am...hehehe I had to fight with my computer for about 20 minutes just to turn the darn thing on!! I need to get another battery (this one only charges about once a yr, and even then only when its not suffering from PMS..aka Pre-Meltdown Syndrome) and another wall plug. To get it to turn on (connect with the power coming from the wall) you practically have to assume Fpx viewing positions! Ugh!!

Anywho, I wrote down all my activities and dining habits today in the book I mentioned earlier. So I'm on a good path again!

Hump day, indeed!!

So today's Wednesday, which is sometimes referred to as "hump day"...and if you're referring to my mid-section front "hump" then that IS definitely a good classification.

I think my past couple of days transgretions at the meal table have really come down on me. Ugh!! I ate out a couple of time when I should have been making healthier meals at home. I got onto the Wii Fit this morning and had gained weight!

I'm going to work towards making SURE I do 30 minute aerobics on the Wii Fit and then 30 minutes more of other activities. I found a food diary that I'd gotten years ago and updated it so that I can use it to keep up with my eating habits better. I believe I found it at Barnes and Noble or some such, but you can also find it at the MemoryMinder website. There are divisions for what you've eaten for breakfast, lunch, supper, snacks, times you ate the meals, calories, fat grams, carbs, protein, fiber, physical activity log, notes, water intake, and more. If you don't currently have a food journal and you're wanting to start keeping one I would HIGHLY recommend picking on of these up!I use CalorieKing to look up the foods that don't have labels on them. If any of you haven't seen this site before it is INCREDIBLY helpful!! It has helped me in the past SO much (and the experts agree) that those who keep a food diary where you can see the numbers and refer to them have greater success in weight loss.

Here's a sample blank page from the Food & Fitness journal I'm using:

I think Wii can, I think Wii can!!

Strike that...I KNOW Wii can!!! hehe Today I did only 30 minutes of Wii Fit. I did...

  • Yoga (Deep Breathing, Warrior, Cobra, Bridge, Spinal Twist)
  • All 3 Strength Challenges (Push-ups, Jackknife, Plank)

  • Strength Exercises (Plank, Torso & Waist Twists, Jackknife)

  • Advanced Step Aerobics

  • Advanced Soccer

  • Advanced Table Tilt
  • Ski Jump
  • Balance Bubble

  • Lotus Focus

I think there might a been a few others, but I didn't write them down, so I am not sure which they were.

I ate pretty well today as well.

Breakfast
  • Bagel with lite cream cheese
Lunch (@ Cici's)
  • 2 slices of pizza
  • salad w/1tbsp lite ranch

  • 1 small cinnamon roll
Supper
  • Small salad with Italian dressing

  • 1 serving (1 1/2 cups) low-fat Baked Ziti
And all day I drank LOTS and LOTS of water (about 120 oz)!!!

It's late tonight, and I was EXHAUSTED about 3:00 this afternoon, but I just came upstairs and did some Wii Fit to wake me up again. I'm rounding out my night by posting here and watching some of the Olympics (gymnastics and swimming).

A 1930s Wife

78

As a 1930s wife, I am
Very Superior

Take the test!

WOW!! Who'd have thought I'd rate "very superior" as a 1930s wife. Cute test and I was honest as much as possible. I think I got extra kudos for being interested in his work and such. Thanks Dawn for the suggestion of this lil' quiz.

This morning I got up at about 6:30am and started my day. Hubby was sleeping in the bed beside me when I got up, so I waited until about 7:00 to turn on the TV and greet him "good morning". I got the children up at 10:00 this morning, as they were pre-warned last night, and made them take showers. After showers it was off to get school supplies.

Walking all over Wal-mart looking for all these supplies SHOULD count towards some of my workout, but I will do some more Wii Fit to make doubly sure.

Its Monday Again...

It might be Monday, but that's NOT a bad thing this time! I did my Wii Fit test this morning and I LOST weight (2.2 lbs)!!! Yeah!! I've still yet to take care of my exercising today, but I'll get to it later on.
Right now I'm working on my TOPS awards. I need to get them done by 5:30pm (in about 2 hours) so I'm ready to go. After I finish that I'm going to work on my menu calendar.
I did this a while back and had a LOT of success with it! Basically I sit down one day and plan out our dinner menu for the month. I actually make a calendar with everything listed on it and print it out. I stick this on the fridge and now we ALL know what we're having on which night. This makes it A LOT easier to shop as well. I usually shop for about 3-4 days, so my fresh ingredients keep. I take my recipes from all over; Pampered Chef cookbooks, Weight Watchers cookbook, kraftfoods.com, family recipes, and a Cooking Light cookbook.
As I fix these meals, I'll be sure to post pictures. If anyone wants the recipes, just let me know via comment and I'd be happy to send them your way!

All done for another day

So I finished up my 30 minutes (actually worked for just about 45 minutes) todat on Wii Fit. I rounded out my time with some more Advanced Step Aerobics, a few yoga moves, some strength exercises and ALL THREE challenges!! Yep, you heard right!!

I did the Push-up Challenge, Jack-knife Challenge, AND Plank Challenge!!

My arms are still a little shaky to be perfectly honest. I'm just hoping this pays off on the body test tomorrow. I also have my TOPS mtg to go to tomorrow. I am still taking a break, but I do need to give them my awards from months past.

I read a friends (Dawn's Diversions) blog and I LOVE how most of her days have themes!! I have to figure out where she got that idea! I just adore them and am hoping to incorprate them into my own blog.

Be well friends and here's to a more healthy wii!!

We must! We must! We must decrease our gut!!!

So my lil' Mii got a Wii bit bigger this morning, by 1.5 lbs. Ugh!! (That's Mii in the middle, in between my sleeping son..how interesting that it would KNOW he was a lazy butt... and my wide awake daughter) But I know it was the mexican food I fixed for lunch/supper yesterday. I had too many tacos, and not enough salad. I DID use the leanest meat I could find, though. (Still doesn't excuse my gluttony...)

I'm not totally done with my Wii Fit day, but I am taking a break. I did some Step Aerobics, a couple of balance games and decided I'd head back later on.

I really want to start getting up about 7am and doing my body tests and complete workouts then. My goal is still to do an hour a day. I know it seems like a lot, but half of that time will probably be composed of Step Aerobics. I need to start doing the yoga and strength exercises a lot more. I know I'm not as strong OR balanced as I should be, especially for my age.

My husband things I should re-name my blog "Releasing My Inner Skinny". I told him, that might happen when my goal is more in sight. Right now its somewhere over the hill and beyond the woods, but off to my goal I go! Now if only I could find a way past this river...ah well. Can't go over it, can't go under it, can't go around it....gotta go THROUGH it!

So push through I will. I'll keep pushing and trying more and more activities every day in hope of Sharing My Inner Skinny with the OUTSIDE world! Be well friends and together Wii can all get Fit!

Saturday, August 9, 2008

Wii are getting more Fit by the day!!

SO today we got a late start, but I put in my time on the Wii Fit!! Here's what I did:

Yoga:
Deep Breathing
Half Moon
Warrior
Tree
Sun Salutation
Standing Knee
Palm Tree
Chair
Triangle
Doward-Facing Dog
Dance
Cobra
Bridge
Spinal Twist
Shoulder Stand

Aerobics:
2 person run

Balance:
Table Tilt
Soccer
Bubble

Now on some of the yoga poses, I am NOT good at all!!! I have horrible balance on one leg, so I usually end up falling over on these. Ugh! But I'm still REALLY enjoying myself and I'm thrilled that hubby is working out with me.

Lazy Bloggin'

Here's post I created at a website recommended to me by a fellow blogger...

Holy crap! I just found out I have not updated this since they let me out!... You would not believe the fairy dust I have to clean up. I'm a blogger so I will though!.I am totally exhausted with setting fire to people wearing Crocs, being distracted by the shiny, just generally being a mother to anyone unfortunate to cross my path, my day is passing in a blur from crawling out of bed at 6.30 to way past dusk. I am avoiding recapture. can't they see I am blogging.I hope that one day I will make more of an effort to blog more often until the nice men in the white coats come back. Honestly! Unless of course the pool with the cocktail bar is heated!.

*Thought it would be a good post, seeing as how the last few have been short.

Wii didn't..

So yesterday I must have pulled something or twisted my ankle somehow, because today it REALLY kills!! We all four watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics tonight, and just about 10 minutes ago decided it was time to turn in for the night. Kyle was too tired to Wii Fit tonight, and with my soreness and sleepy head as well, I followed suit. We have vowed to get up in the morning and Wii Fit then, perhaps we'll both get in a full hour instead of merely 30 minutes (as recommended).

Well, I'm off to waych Nim's Island and drift off into dreamworld. G'might friends!

Some of my favorite toons...

These are some cartoons I've found over the years that have always made me giggle. Thought I'd share.

Wii Fit log

Today I did a Body Test and I was down TWO pounds!!! Yeah!!! For my exercise I did 30 minutes of Step Aerobics while I watched Big Brother. (side note, I am SO glad Jesse is GONE!!!)

This is a short post, sorry.

What I ate today

Breakfast

  • 1 1/2 cups honeydew melon

Lunch

  • 2 cups spaghetti

Snack

  • 2 cups honeydew melon

Supper

  • 2 cups spaghetti

Water: 12 cups

Not too shabbii...

My adventures on the Wii Fit continue! Last night we got it all set up at home (YEAH!! We're home again!!!) and let Kyle have a go at it. Of course, his Center of Balance is almost perfect *grumble grumble* and his Wii Fit age is 28!!! NINE years younger than his ACTUAL age!! Ugh! Granted he has his goal set to lose 15 lbs to be around a BMI of 24. Oh well, honestly can't say I'm surprised. And for the record, we need higher ceilings!! He can stand on the balance board and stretch his hands upward to touch the ceiling. This is a BIG help during a lot of the yoga, he woud have been a LOT less steady during the tree pose if he wasn't "cheating"...figures!
Here's what I did yesterday to rack up just over 45 minutes...
  • Advanced Step Aerobics
  • Expert Boxing
  • Soccer
  • Yoga (various poses)
  • Snowboarding
  • Ski Jump
  • Meditation

I'm really looking forward to using this every day to train and exercise! FYI, I was down TWO lbs today! I think I'll add a weigh-in list to this blog so I can track my progress here too.

Teetering on the track

This weight loss thing is trickier than anyone might have ever thought. OK, maybe not ANYONE, but definitely ME! I have teetered back and forth from up to down almost every other day. Its interesting because I know what I should and shouldn't eat, but I seem to only think about it post-digestion. In the past I've done really well while "vacationing" at my mother and dad's house. This time...not so much. Ugh! Nowadays I appear to be more disciplined at home where I'm cooking most of the time. This time, here at the 'rents, I haven't cooked once. There's really no point to my cooking. Mother is able to eat more varied foods now, but here tastes remain the same. I enjoy so many vegetables now and LOVE to cook with things like spinach, bell peppers, broccoli, etc...but these things aren't to her liking. At home, I know that I'll eat what I cook and at very least Kyle will join in my dining (if the kids decided they don't like it, too). Sure dad would likely eat it, but when there's four other people in the house, it seems like kind of a waste.

I HAVE been doing well on the Wii Fit, though. I've only missed one day of "working out" for at LEAST 30 minutes to an hour a day. Usually I incorporate at least 20 minutes of straight aerobic exercise into that time commitment. I plan to continue these trends upon our return home.

Tonight I'm in a bit of pain, sad to report. I went and saw Mamma Mia at the late show and slipped as I was walking up the steps to my seat. There was no one else in the theater, which I guess was good and bad (no one to laugh at me, and also no one to offer help). I ended up banging up my knee and scraped a good spot on the top of my left foot. Seeing as how it happened over two hours ago and still hurts, I'm quite sure I'll have have a pleasant bruise in the morning.

We'll likely leave to go home Wednesday, instead of tomorrow. I think I'll do laundry all day tomorrow and figure out how we're going to cram all this crap into the car to take home. Ah well, I guess I should sign off and get to sleep. Last night I fell asleep to the sounds of Jim Brickman's Destiny CD. Tonight I'm thinking about listening to my previously downloaded Mamma Mia soundtrack.

Guadalupe River

So while down here at my folks', we went with some family friends to their place on the river. Apparently this is GREAT exercise, since I ended up losing close to FOUR lbs overnight!!! YEAH!!!! We didn't do a lot, but swim around and float here and there. The kids seemed to have a lot of fun for sure. Here's a few pictures from the trip, they were taken with a cheap digital camera...so they're less than par. Ah well, better than nothing, right?

Wii Fit..are are we?

So low and behold, after searching all over the Dallas area for a Wii Fit...I have FINALLY found one (in Victoria, TX of all places). We are down here visiting my folks and we found one at a local gaming store. I called them and they said they had two left, so I quickly threw on some clothes, and headed out the door. We got it back to the house, hooked it up, and began our fitness adventure.

BIG surprise, I come in as obese. Ugh! I am glad to report though that I now understand why it is so popular. This is a REALLY fun way to get into shape!! I think I enjoy the step aerobics the most, though. Some of the yoga poses are incredibly challenging, but I know that I'll improve with time and practice. I've set a 6 month goal for myself of losing 22.0 lbs. So far, so good. I only went up 3/4 of a lb yesterday. Other than that, I've been losing weight steadily.

The kids really enjoy it as well, and I can't wait to get it home and let Kyle have a go at it. Perhaps after I get home I'll take a picture of myself working out on it and post it here. So we may not be fit just yet, but we're certainly exciting about getting there!!

For those who understand this...my Wii Fit age started as 46, but now I'm down to 31. Yeah!!! That's 2 yrs YOUNGER than my actual age!!
