Surgery wonders

I'm accompanying a friend to a doctor's appointment tomorrow. She's seeing a local bariatric surgeon to consider a lap-band procedure. She said the office already checked, and her insurance will cover all of it.

I'm not proud to say that I'm at a new high weight. I doubt my insurance will cover as much as hers will, but it'll be interesting to sit in on the appointment nonetheless.

I need to get moving! That's my problem. I've been listening to a taped message at night that is essentially a subliminal recording designed to motivate you to exercise.

If you have any tips to keep you daily committed to exercising, please share them with me!

Thanks friends!

The Year of Me

This year I have decided that honesty is the ONLY policy! And in that spirit,  here goes...

I have been a slacker! I have not worked out with any consistency for the better part of a year. I have not watched what I ate. I have touched my feet to the scales maybe all of 3 times in the last 6 months (each time cringing at the numbers that flashed before me).

I have to be honest with myself! I have been bad. I'm not helping myself or my health with this largely apathetic attitude.

Yesterday I had a WONDERFUL workout! I did EA Active (Wii), Dance Central (xBox Kinect), Kickboxing (xBox Kinect), and Dance Dance Revolution (Wii). It felt great! I need to find a way to remind myself that though I might struggle to get through some of the workouts while they're happening (namely EA Active), I always feel fantastic after having completed them.

I've recently enlisted the help of my Red/Pink Hat Society ladies to better motivate me to keep in a regular workout schedule. We have planned workouts 2-3 days a week, held at my house. I'm hopeful that this added accountability to someone local will help to boost my will power and put thinner days well within my grasp.

Be well friends!

What do I listen to?

Well, this morning I got to thinking about what I listen to while I work out. If I'm on the Wii then I usually turn on Free Step for 30 minutes and watch some TV, if I'm out walking in the neighborhood then I listen to my iPod. So I turned it on and put it on shuffle. These are the first seven songs that came up:

  • Lay All Your Love On Me (from Mamma Mia! Movie Soundtrack)
  • Too Little Too Late (JoJo)
  • Midnight In Montgomery (Alan Jackson)
  • Comfortable (John Mayer)
  • Power of Love (Huey Lewis & The News)
  • I Like The Way (Kaskade)
  • Uninvited (Alania Morissette)

Yeah, its eclectic at best. But now maybe you know a little more about me than you did before. My music tastes vary QUITE widely. I listen to everything from Classical to Hip-Hop/Rap.

What do YOU listen to?

I've been slipping in my work-out commitments and not doing them for any more than the minimum 30 minutes, so I'm off to the gameroom upstairs to rectify that situation and put in an hour. Afterwards I'll hop in the shower, probably go take some movies back to Blockbuster, grab a few groceries, and take my son to get his schedule for school this year. So just another normal Mommy day around here.

Laters friends!

I think Wii can, I think Wii can!!

Strike that...I KNOW Wii can!!! hehe Today I did only 30 minutes of Wii Fit. I did...

  • Yoga (Deep Breathing, Warrior, Cobra, Bridge, Spinal Twist)
  • All 3 Strength Challenges (Push-ups, Jackknife, Plank)

  • Strength Exercises (Plank, Torso & Waist Twists, Jackknife)

  • Advanced Step Aerobics

  • Advanced Soccer

  • Advanced Table Tilt
  • Ski Jump
  • Balance Bubble

  • Lotus Focus

I think there might a been a few others, but I didn't write them down, so I am not sure which they were.

I ate pretty well today as well.

Breakfast
  • Bagel with lite cream cheese
Lunch (@ Cici's)
  • 2 slices of pizza
  • salad w/1tbsp lite ranch

  • 1 small cinnamon roll
Supper
  • Small salad with Italian dressing

  • 1 serving (1 1/2 cups) low-fat Baked Ziti
And all day I drank LOTS and LOTS of water (about 120 oz)!!!

It's late tonight, and I was EXHAUSTED about 3:00 this afternoon, but I just came upstairs and did some Wii Fit to wake me up again. I'm rounding out my night by posting here and watching some of the Olympics (gymnastics and swimming).
